About this Event
Laser cutting is one of the most accessible and yet one of the most rewarding manufacturing processes available today. Learn to cut shapes out of wood, plastic or leather. Engrave intricate designs with a high degree of accuracy and even make sloped 3-dimensional shapes in bas-relief. Create interlocking pieces that assemble into 3D boxes, models or furniture. With laser cutting, the sky is the limit as to what you can accomplish.
Because laser cutting is a two dimensional process, designs can be made in commonly used vector graphics programs such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw. This allows users with some design experience to get up and running quickly making their designs into real objects for prototyping, personal use or for sale.
This is the first of two classes you will need to complete to be certified to use our laser cutting machine. Be sure to follow up with Laser Cutting 2 to learn etching/scanning and more advanced techniques. Since laser cutting is one of our most popular classes we suggest you RSVP before either session.
TOOLS AND MATERIALS:
Provided: 100 Watt 4' x 3' CO2 laser, test material.
If you have a specific file you would like to start out with please bring it in on an SD card. Any vector format will do but Adobe Illustrator .AI format is best.
AGE RESTRICTIONS:
18 and up (exceptions can be made for ages 15-17 that are interested, and 12+ are ok if they attend with a parent)
