Sewing I: Hands-on training

Class Overview

Whether you’re mending a pair of pants, creating a stuffed animal, or designing a new wardrobe, sewing skills are important!  At the Hexlab, we’ve got resources for the newest sewers to older experts—and fun ways to incorporate sewing into your projects.

This class is intended to introduce you to the world of sewing and constructing a garment on a sewing machine.  Students with little to no sewing experience will benefit from this class.  Students will learn how to use a pattern, lay the pattern on the fabric, measure, sew, use basic sewing tools, press and thread the sewing machine and construct a wearable garment.

The sewing class is divided into 3 classes with assisted training.  We suggest you RSVP before each class.  You will be able to use the home sewing machine independently after Sewing I and will be ready to move onto learning other machines if you attend Sewing II
