Intro to Computer Programming in Scratch, Youth Ages 9-16

Class Overview:

This class teaches students about the basic concepts of computer programming while having fun programming their own animations games and interactive stories.

Scratch is a fun drag-and-drop programming environment designed especially for kids, but is used by people of all ages.. Scratch provides a stepping stone to the more advanced world of computer programming.

Topics Include:
– Creating simple animations.
– Moving characters around the screen.
– Playing sounds.
– Creating simple games.
– Computer programming concepts: loops, conditions, and variables.

Class Cost:

$35 for non-members

$25 for monthly members (you do not need to be a member to attend our classes, however, members do get discounts!) Learn about membership

Prerequisites:

None, all you need is a laptop with a wireless connection

Suggested prep: Create a student account by going to the Scratch web site at https://scratch.mit.edu and clicking “Join Scratch”!

Age Requirement:

9 through 16 (some exceptions can be made)
